Anglo Saxon themed 2 hr workshops for the Forest of Bowland AONB exploring history and heritage

Archeological jewellery finds can tell us a lot about ancient peoples and how they lived. Students worked with jewellery maker Samantha Taylor and created a pair of beautiful Anglo-Saxon inspired spiral earrings using copper wire and a beaded necklace using glass, shell and spiral dangles.

local heritage
Many of Lancashire's towns and villages place names are Anglo-Saxon and their standing stones can be found in some of our churchyards. It's believed they were used for open-air worship and sermons.
Right: spiral pattern symbols used to decorate Anglo-Saxon standing stones near Clitheroe.
