| Samantha
has been interested in arts and crafts, jewellery making and photography
since childhood. Her jewellery making developed over the years,
from a hobby and creative outlet when she worked as a computer based
designer, into recently a small artisan business.
Samantha's passion
for beads is the key element in the jewellery she creates.
She is a member
of the Art and Craft Guild of Lancashire and is continually
evolving her knowledge of different types of beads and jewellery
making skills.
She studied
jewellery making and silversmithing part-time for 5 years at college
and has beginner, intermediate and advanced level qualifications.
The majority
of her jewellery making skills are self-taught. Sometimes she is
influenced from designs and beads she comes across, othertimes her
designs develop by chance and experimenting and seeing what happens.
Also occasionally, she will 'try out' jewellery making techniques
and designs from books and magazines and then adapt them to her
own methods and style.
After completing
her teacher training at University, Samantha taught design skills,
IT and photo-editing in Further Education and in 2005 she was given
the opportunity to teach adult education jewellery making courses
with a variety of community groups. She now has a number of years
teaching experience and in her classes likes to focus mainly on
students enjoying the classes, whilst developing their creativity,
confidence and jewellery making skills.
