This class is mainly aimed at continuing students that want to develop their jewellery skills using buttons (alongside beads, cord, jump rings & chain).

The designs are suitable for a range of skill levels, as the designs can be made using basic skills, but can be developed further by students with intermediate skills. Students can choose their own level of work depending on how easy they find the techniques.

In the morning we'll working with various cords and in the afternoon we'll be working with jump rings and chains create a number of button and bead jewellery pieces.

On this class you will be creating jewellery with buttons, beads, charms, cord, chain and plated components

Morning

• Quick recap on tools / Intro to buttons and cord
• Intro to different button threading techniques and practise session
• Intro to grouped button necklace designs using button fasteners
• Intro to further cord, bead and button designs, tips, followed by practise session
• Intro to other methods of finishing off cord jewellery

Afternoon

• Intro to different typs of jump rings and how to work with them, tips, various button earring designs, followed by practise session
• Intro to using chain
• Intro to bag charm, bracelet and necklace designs using buttons, jump rings and chains, tips, followed by practise session
• Completing unfinished jewellery items
• Intro to other type of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback

The day course includes:
demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance.

Materials are available and can be purchased on the course (approx £5 - £8, depending on the buttons & other materials chosen) or you are welcome to bring any of your own materials with you. A materials list will be emailed with the class booking deposit receipt.
