1 day jewellery making course

This class is suitable for both beginners and students that have attended any of the other bebeady courses and want to learn about using leather, suede and cord and a range of designs using these materials.

You will be creating various pieces of jewellery with a choice of beads, leather, suede / faux suede, different types of cord thong and plated components

In the morning you will be introduced to the different materials and components to finish off the ends and have an opportunity to make one or more pieces of jewellery with each of the materials. In the afternoon there will be further designs to choose from.

Morning

• Intro to tools and beads
• Intro to different types of leather thong and basic necklace designs
• Intro to how to use coil ends
• Intro to using jump rings & attaching fasteners
• Intro to faux suede and suede and basic necklace, bracelet and earring designs
• Intro to how to use foldover ends
• Intro to different types of cord and basic knotted necklace and bracelet designs

Afternoon

• Intro to further designs using cord
• Intro to further knotting techniques, slip knot, slip bead and lark's head knot
• Intro to fringe designs combining the various materials
• Opportunity to work further on any of the designs that have been covered during the day
• completing any unfinished piece of jewellery
• Intro to other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback

The day course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance.

Materials are available and can be purchased on the course (approx £5 - £10, depending on the beads, other material chosen) or you are welcome to bring any of your own materials with you. A materials list will be emailed with the class booking deposit receipt.
