This
class is suitable for students that wish to develop their beadstringing
skills further and have attended the beginner beads and tigertail
thread course or have some self-taught beadstringing with tigertail
thread skills.
You will be
creating jewellery with beads, tigertail thread, plated or sterling
silver components
Morning
- Intro to
the different types of tigertail threads and plated and sterling
silver crimps and how to crimp using crimping pliers, followed
by practise session
- Intro to
using tigertail thread to create either a necklace, bracelet or
earrings using top drilled holes, dangles or pendants and how
to finish off using crimps and fasteners, followed by practise
session (optional: how to use gimp)
- Intro to
braiding tigertail thread to create earrings or a beaded bracelet
using the ladderstitch technique, followed by practise session
Afternoon
- Intro to
some 3 and 4 strand designs, how to use culottes and crimp covers,
tips, followed by practise session
- Optional
design: Intro
to making fringe style necklace, tips, followed by practise session
- Completing
unfinished jewellery items
- Intro to
other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
day course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and
answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance. |

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £6 -
£12, depending on the beads chosen and if using plated or
sterling silver components) or you are welcome to bring any of your
own materials with you.
Materials
list
If you wish to bring some of your own materials for the course,
you will need:
beads, 7 strand tigertail thread and some plated or sterling silver
components (crimps, crimp tubes, clasps, culottes, earring hooks
and jump rings)
optional: extension
chain, gimp, crimp covers, 19, 21 or 49 strand tigertail thread
