class is suitable for both beginners*, beginners plus and continuing
students wishing to work with illusion cord (monofilament).
*students
new to jewellery making may find monofilament quite fiddly to work
with and knot, ideal for students that are reasonably dextrous /
there is an alternative easy basic beaded design in the afternoon
for those students wanting a break from knotting
You will be
creating bracelets and necklaces with beads, illusion cord and plated
components
Morning
- Intro to
monofilament, other materials and tools
- Intro to
using monofilament to create a 3 or 4 strand knotted together
illusion design, tips, followed by practise session creating a
bracelet or necklace
- Intro to
how to finish off using calottes and fasteners, how to open and
close jump rings and add fasteners, followed by practise session
- Intro to
using monofilament to individually knot each bead and the different
knotting techniques tips, followed by practise session
- choosing
one of the designs and techniques to create a bracelet or necklace
Afternoon
- Further work
on your chosen design
- Intro to
further designs using monofilament
- Alternative
designs; basic beaded necklace, bracelet & earrings using
monofilament
- Completing
unfinished jewellery items
- Intro to
other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
day course includes:
some demos, examples, handouts, opportunity for questions and answers,
practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance.

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £5 -
£10, depending on the beads chosen) or you are welcome to
bring any of your own materials with you.
