1 day jewellery making course |

This beginner
plus/intermediate level class is a follow-on wire skills class,
ideal for students that have attended one or more of the wire jewellery
making classes (including one of the beginners wire skills classes
- charm or multiloop theme) and students that have some basic wire
skills.
You will be
able to develop your wire and jewellery making skills with some
new designs. The designs featured in this class, vary each course
and are influenced by the current jewellery trends.
The theme of
this particular class is developing and practising your wire skills,
and also learning how to use ribbons in your jewellery designs,
combining the two elements in your designs to create a range of
contemporary necklaces and bracelets.
Morning
- Intro to
current trends and colours
- Intro to
messy top wrapped loops, making earrings and pendants with messy
wrapped loops, followed by practise session
- Intro to
using rattail ribbon combined with the pendant to make a necklace
design, tips, finishing off techniques, how to use foldover ends,
recap opening and closing jump rings, adding fasteners, followed
by practise session
- Further designs
using rattail ribbon
- Intro to
using organza ribbon, tips, jewellery designs, followed by practise
session
- Intro to
other types of ribbons & designs combining ribbon with charm
/ multi-loop jewellery, followed by practise session
Afternoon
- further contemporary
necklace and bracelet designs using ribbons - combined with wire
skills, followed by practise session
- Alternatively,
students can use the afternoon as a workshop session and bring
along a ribbon design from a magazine or book to work on.
- Completing
unfinished jewellery items
- Intro to
other type of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
day course includes:
demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and answers,
practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance. |

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £5 -
£10, depending on the beads chosen) or you are welcome to
bring any of your own materials with you.

If you wish to bring some of your own materials for the course,
you will need:
beads, various types of thin ribbon; rattail, organza, silk, satin,
trimmings, 0.6mm wire and some plated components (headpins, earringhooks,
pendant bails, jump rings, hoops, foldover ends, chain and clasps)
