This class is a beginner
level class, creating jewellery with beads, wire, chain and plated
components and developing jewellery making skills over the 4 weeks
of the course.
The class runs
from 6.30-8.30pm
You are welcome
to arrive 10-15 minutes early and help yourself to a brew and a
biscuit, chill out, get settled in and chat.
The aim of these
sessions is to spend an enjoyable evening, being creative and learning
new skills / practising and developing skills.

1 - 6 October
- Intro to
tools, beads and components
- Intro to
technique used to create a basic loop, followed by practise session
- Intro to
how to make a basic pair of earrings/pendant using wire components
and beads, followed by practise session

2 - 13 October
- Intro to
opening/closing jump rings and different types of chains
- practise
loops to make dangles
- Intro to
basic charm style designs, bag charm, charm bracelet & necklace,
tips, followed by practise session
- Intro to
different types of clasps and finishing off your design

3 - 20 October
- practise
your loops making multi-section earrings, followed by practise
session
- Intro to
further multi-loop jewellery designs incorporating chains, jump
rings, hoops, tips, followed by practise session
week
4 - 27 October
- Practise
skills via further designs
- Recap techniques
that need further work or work on designs if you've missed a class
- Intro to
other type of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and
answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance.

and payment for the class required; minimum 5 students, maximum

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £2-5
per class, depending on the beads chosen) or you are welcome to
bring any of your own materials with you.

If you
wish to bring some of your own materials for the course, you will
need:
beads, 0.6 - 0.8mm wire, chain (medium curb is quite versatile)
and some plated components (bag clasp, clasps, earring hooks, headpins
and various sized jump rings, hoops)
