This class is
a follow-on wire skills class, beginner plus / intermediate level
and is suitable for students that have either attended a few of
the beads and wire classes, or at least a beginners wire class and
then practised basic skills further at home and feel reasonably
confident using tools with wire.
You will be
creating jewellery with beads, wire and plated components
Morning
- Intro to
the basic jig and different types of wire
- Intro to
basic techniques used to create a jig pattern segment followed
by practise session
- Recap basic
loops
- Designs using
these jig segments in a jewellery pieces, followed by practise
session
- Intro to
creating further jig pattern segments using a basic jig and how
these can be used in jewellery, tips, followed by practise session
Afternoon
- Intro to
different types of jigs and further jig pattern segment designs
using these jigs, jewellery designs, tips, followed by practise
session
- Intro to
adding beads within jig segment pieces and creating experimental
pieces, tips, followed by practice session and choice of project
work
- Completing
unfinished jewellery items
- Intro to
other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
day course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and
answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance. |

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £2 -
£5, depending on the beads chosen) or you are welcome to bring
any of your own materials with you.

If you wish to bring some of your own materials for the course,
you will need:
beads, 0.6mm and 0.8mm plated wire, chain (medium curb is quite
versatile) and some plated components (earring hooks, head pins,
clasps and jump rings)
