This class is
a follow-on wire skills class, suitable for students that have attended
a beginner beads and wire course (or have some self-taught basic
wire skills) and feel reasonably confident using the tools
You will be
creating jewellery with beads, wire and plated components
Morning
- Intro to
different types of wire
- Intro to
techniques used to create a range of basic spirals (alternative
headpins or dangles), tips, followed by practise session
- Intro to
variation designs (heart, triangle, freeform, bead in middle),
followed by practise session
- Intro to
incorporating these spiral pieces into jewellery designs, tips,
followed by practise session
- Intro to
connector spiral designs, tips, followed by practise session and
incorporating these pieces into jewellery designs
Afternoon
- Intro to
creating spiral cages for beads or gem tumblestones, tips, followed
by practise session and incorporating these pieces into jewellery
designs
- further designs
/ opportunity to work further on any of the designs that have
been covered during the day
- Completing
unfinished jewellery items
- Intro to
other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback
The
day course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and
answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance. |

Materials are
available and can be purchased on the course (approx £2 -
£5, depending on the beads chosen) or you are welcome to bring
any of your own materials with you.

If you wish to bring some of your own materials for the course,
you will need:
beads, various thicknesses of wire: 0.6mm, 0.8mm and 1mm plated
wire, plated components (earring hooks, pendant bails, clasps and
jump rings)
optional: chain (medium curb is quite versatile), 0.5mm wire and
extension chain
