1 day jewellery making course

Develop your wire skills further on this follow-on wire skills class, learning how to make basic spirals, wrapped loops and a range of wrapped bead designs and using these techniques to make a few pieces of jewellery.

The range of designs we will be working on during the class will accomodate different skill levels, from beginner plus to intermediate, students can choose their own level of work depending on how easy they find the techniques. Later in the afternoon there is an optional more advanced design for intermediate level students; freeform wrapping gemstones.

You will be creating jewellery with beads, wire and plated components

Morning

• Brief intro to different types of wire
• Intro to creating basic spirals
• Intro to making wrapped loops, using the spirals to make bead earrings / pendants
• Intro to creating wrapped loop bead segments and attaching the sections together
• Intro to designs using wrapped loops, creating either wrapped loop earrings, pendant or other jewellery design
• Intro to wrapped bead dangle designs and creating a range of pieces with different types of beads and using these in jewellery designs

Afternoon

• Intro to creating multi-section wrapped bead designs, creating a range of pieces with different types of beads
• Intro to creating further wrapped bead designs
• Optional intermediate design - freeform wrapping gemstones with thick wire
• Opportunity to work further on any of the designs that have been covered during the day
• Completing any unfinished piece of jewellery
• Intro to other types of jewellery courses on offer and course feedback

The day course includes:
many demos, examples, some handouts, opportunity for questions and answers, practical work and 1-1 tutor assistance.

Materials are available and can be purchased on the course (approx £3 - £6, depending on the beads, other material chosen) or you are welcome to bring any of your own materials with you. A materials list will be emailed with the class booking deposit receipt.
