The theme for
the 2 week taster sessions is wrapping with wire.
You will learn
how to create a variety of wrapped brooches and hair accessories
using wire, beads and plated components.
Items you will
make includes: wrapped bead wire brooches, a hair clip / comb or
alice band

9 week class, Tuesdays 1-3pm, £79.20

The theme this
term is twisting and wrapping with wire. You will
learn how to twist wire to create different types of stems and use
these alongside wrapping to create a variety of hair accessories,
brooches and a few jewellery items. You will be using different
colours and thicknesses of wire, beads and plated components.
This class will
accommodate various skill levels - beginners* and continuing jewellery
students. *students will be working with quite small beads and
will be working with their hands to twist the wire, so good hand
/ arm mobility is required.
Items you will
make includes: a variety of brooches, a range of hair accessories,
including tiaras / alice bands, hair grips and combs/clips, also
pendants.

11 week class, Tuesdays 7-9pm, £96.80
class begins 29 September 2010
venue: Lancashire College, Chorley
The theme this
term is beadstringing with tigertail thread. Learn
about the tools, materials and components you will be using. You
will learn how to create a variety of jewellery items using beadstringing
techniques.
This class will
accommodate various skill levels - beginners* and continuing jewellery
students that wish to learn how to make a range of jewellery using
tigertail thread. *students will be working with quite small
beads and will be working with their hands to add beads, braid,
crimp etc, so good hand / arm mobility is required.
Jewellery you
will make includes:
tigertail thread beaded earrings, pendants, bracelets and necklaces
using using a variety of designs. Including: basic stringing techniques,
2, 3 and 4 strand woven/braided designs, fringe and spaced bead
designs, how to add chain to your designs, incorporate spacer bars,
connectors and dangles, crimps, calottes and gimp. Also how to open
and close jump rings and add fasteners.

Usually
these classes need a minimum of 10 students for the college to run
them.
These courses
are partially funded by the Lancashire County Council, so students
need to be aware that there is some paperwork to complete as part
of the course, mainly to document what you have learnt on the course.
The college also offers the weekly classes free (£5 admin
fee) for students in receipt of certain state benefits. Contact
the college to find out if you would be eligible. |
