some history:
since Robert the Bruce burned the original Samlesbury Hall on the banks of the river Ribble, the ‘new’ 1325 Samlesbury Hall was built in a place deemed to be safer from marauding hordes. Even though Hall has experienced a lively history, neglect and dilapidation threatened to be a far deadlier enemy. In the early 1920’s the Hall was about to be demolished and a housing estate built on the site, however a few concerned local businessmen purchased the Hall and set up a charitable Trust, whose deed is to maintain and preserve
the Hall.
